Our Only Hope
Read John Chapter 14
Jn 14:5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we don’t know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 If you really knew Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.”
We have heard and read this verse many times before. It is one of the standard concepts of Christianity. The true Christian will never say, “There are many roads to Heaven.” We know that there is only one road, and that road is through and with Christ. We have accepted Him as our only hope for salvation and His word as the only truth which exists.
Sometimes our SSA battles bring us to a time of desperation. Sometimes we begin to wonder “what’s the use.” If we get too despairing, we can begin to think about chunking it all and just “enjoying” the remainder of our lives here on earth. We must resist those kinds of thoughts at all costs.
Because we know the truth of these verses from John, we know that the only hope we have is to continue to walk with and alongside our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Every other road is leads to destruction. There is nothing we can face on Jesus’ pathway which will destroy us. No matter how difficult our struggles become, they will seem as nothing, a mere triviality, when we reach our destination.
Phil 3:7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Because we know that Jesus is our only hope, we must cling to Him always, persevering no matter what comes our way. We cannot leave His side. He is the way, the truth, and the life. What folly it would be to desert the way of the only One who can stand before the Father and say, “His sins have been covered by My blood.”
Prayer: Thank You, thank You, thank You!! How foolish we are, when we think about or consider leaving Your pathway. We know that our enemy wants us to abandon You and dive into homosexuality with all our heart and soul. We also know that to do so would lead us to eternal death. We reaffirm our determination to stay by Your side all the way into eternity. We love You!!
