Read Psalm Chapter 109
Ps 109:1 O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, 2 for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. 3 With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.
I am fully convinced that God’s word has the answer to any problem we face in life. Much too often we go to any other source than the bible to get our answers to our dilemmas. This chapter is a good example of a problem many of us have faced or will face sometime in our lives. We will have enemies, and some of them will do anything they can to discredit us and our testimony. We may face many such “wicked and deceitful” men, just as this Psalmist faced. When that happens, we have a Defender. This is a comforting chapter from God’s word. There are some comforting verses within it.
Ps 109:21 But You, O Sovereign LORD, deal well with me for Your name’s sake; out of the goodness of Your love, deliver me. 22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. 23 I fade away like an evening shadow; I am shaken off like a locust. 24 My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt. 25 I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads.
The Psalmist knew that God had the answer to his agony.
Ps 109:29 My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak. 30With my mouth I will greatly extol the LORD; in the great throng I will praise Him. 31 For He stands at the right hand of the needy one, to save his life from those who condemn him.
There is no question but that our Lord is the avenger for anyone who harms us in any way, physically or emotionally. How can this apply to our same-sex attractions? It really doesn’t have to, but it might. Some of us will be accused of doing things of which we are not guilty. The unsaved world will want us to fail in our quest for purity so that they will have no reason to believe anyone can escape their propensity to give in to same-sex attractions. The ‘Christian’ who doesn’t believe there is redemption for the homosexual will expect us to fail and will interpret some of our situations and actions incorrectly.
Our Savior is our defender. He will set the record straight. It may not come about as fast as we would like, but it will happen. Usually we will have to wait much longer than we wish before our name is cleared. There may even be instances that we will NOT be cleared of accusations against us in this life. But be completely assured that our Lord will declare us ‘not guilty’ in eternity. Not only will we be acquitted for the things we were falsely accused of, but also for the things for which we were truly guilty!
Prayer: You, O Lord, are more than amazing, more to be praised and adored than we can possibly imagine. We know that You hold true justice in Your hands, and that no matter what we face, we will be okay. Just as we studied yesterday, You are worthy of all praise and eternal thanksgiving. Remind us every day, that we can find our comfort in Your word, and nowhere else. You are incredibly awesome! THANK YOU!!
