Read Micah Chapter 3
Mic 3:1 Then I said, “Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel. Should you not know justice, 2 you who hate good and love evil……….”
Mic 3:4 Then they will cry out to the LORD, but He will not answer them. At that time He will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done. 5 This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead My people astray, if one feeds them, they proclaim ‘peace’; if he does not, they prepare to wage war against him. 6 Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them. 7The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”
The book of Micah contains dire warnings for those who claim to be God’s people, yet do not listen to or obey Him. The warnings predict serious consequences for both those who are disobedient and those who have led them astray. The worst prophesies are directed toward the leaders who proclaim a false message. It is possible that verse 4 is directed at the people who followed their leaders’ false teachings, but I think it more likely applies only to their leaders. For sure, most of this chapter is in regard to the ‘teachers,’ or ‘rulers/leaders.’
There are more and more men and women today who proclaim that same-sex acts are not contrary to our Lord’s word. There is no one on earth who wishes that were true more than me. If it were correct, it would save me a lot of distress; and, I would be able to indulge occasionally without fear of God’s disciplines. It just isn’t so. If it cannot be proven to be okay through God’s word, then it simply isn’t true. It is impossible to prove homosexual acts to be okay, considering that His word consistently condemns such practices.
That said, let’s look at the consequences that the false teachers and leaders will suffer in the end. At the end time, the false leaders will cry out to God, but He will not answer them. I cannot imagine a worse thing which could happen to anyone! At this moment, anyone who seeks God and is willing to accept His word and repent will definitely receive a positive reply from God. But there is coming a day for both the false prophets and those who followed them when it will be too late to cry out to Him. That time will come when a man passes from this life into eternity, and when our Lord returns to earth. It will be an unbearable time for those who have heard the truth and rejected it.
A secondary consequence will occur immediately after a man cries out to God and realizes that God will not answer. The day will grow dark for them. They will be ashamed and disgraced. They will cover their faces (in an attempt to hide from God, or as an expression of their anguish).
Dear friends, this is a serious matter, and that is an unmeasurable understatement! We must be ever on the alert, ever guarding against falling for false doctrine in regard to homosexual behavior. It has always been contrary to God’s will and purpose, and it always will be. Let us not ever change our beliefs on that subject. Let us never hate good and love evil. There is an even greater caution; let us never be of those who lead others astray. They will suffer the most.
God’s character and nature is the same today as it was during Micah’s time. He never changes. He forgives all who call upon Him and are willing to repent. He will never excuse sin. He only forgives it and expects us to strive against it for the remainder of our lives.
Prayer: Oh Lord, the truth really hurts sometimes. How we wish it did not. But You are Lord and You know best. You have our best interests in mind always. Therefore, we know that Your way is for our own good. Help us to never forget. Let Your Holy Spirit continue to teach us Your ways.
Ps 25:4 Show me Your ways, O LORD, teach me Your paths; 5 guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. 6 Remember, O LORD, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.
