Beautiful Words Of Assurance
Read Daniel Chapter 10
Da 10:12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
For those of us who have spent our lifetimes pursuing God, this verse may provide us with great comfort. Some of us, including myself, have done so, but without much assurance that we would be successful in our quest. Even though we are not able to see our lives as pure as that of Daniel, there is nonetheless something here that should help us rest our hearts and minds.
Daniel obviously had spent much or all of his life in pursuit of God. The Lord spoke to him with beautiful words. “Your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” As we have faced the impossible obstacle of homosexuality in our lives, we have sought God and His answers to our dilemma. There have been times when we despaired at the supposed lack of answers from Him. We can relieve our distress by relying on and trusting in God’s word and promises. There are many passages which assure every God-seeker that our Lord does not and will not fail to answer us.
Again, carefully think about the Lord’s words to Daniel: “Your words were heard.” How can we know that God will and has responded to us in the same way? The answer to that is in the first part of that same verse. You and I have set our minds to gain understanding and to humble ourselves before our God. You and I have continued to seek God and His salvation, His solutions to our SSA, and we remain firmly fixed on continuing to sit at His feet for the remainder of our lives. Our Savior and our God will not turn us away. Here are a few other verses which mirror that promise.
Dt 4:29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
1Ch 16:10 Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Jn 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never be thirsty. …………….37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away.
One of the main keys to our assurance, other than God’s faithfulness, is that you and I have “set our minds to gain understanding, and we have humbled ourselves before Him.” There are no scriptures which indicate in any way that those who seek Him will be turned away.
Dear friends, do not allow our enemy to deceive you. Jesus will never, never, fail to reward those who seek Him. Stay fully focused on walking in His way, no matter what kinds of obstacles may come your way. No matter how discouraged or despairing you may be sometimes, continue your journey with Him.
Prayer: Father, help all men and women who have feared that You haven’t heard their cries for relief. Do not allow them to give up and give in to our enemy. Reveal Yourself and Your truth to them, as You did to Daniel, and to the many millions of others who have sought You.
