Another Warning Against Deception
Read 1 Timothy Chapter 4
1Ti 4:1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
We must be on guard at all times against false teachings. There are many scriptures which prophesy the same thing this verse mentions. As time goes on, more and more people are going to turn away from God. Some will deny His existence. Some will believe that He is the same God that other religions worship. Worst of all, there will be many who at one time accepted the truth about Him and His Son, but were led away from the truth. In this passage, Paul describes the latter as “abandoning the faith.” Paul correctly stated that to turn away from God’s truth was the same as turning away from God. There will be many who will believe deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
Ro 1:25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
When a man or woman begins to love the created bodies of other men and women more than they love God Himself, they are in grave danger of being misled spiritually. False prophets can come along and “tickle their ears” and lead them off of God’s pathway. Sadly, over the past several years I have personally seen this happen time and time again. Men who have believed in God and Christ have changed the truth of God into a lie. I do not want to ever again see that happen. That is the purpose for today’s devotional.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Dear friends, do not allow yourselves to be deceived. Carefully guard your minds and hearts from believing that God’s word has changed or been misinterpreted. The truth about homosexuality, as reported in God’s word, will never change. No man has the authority to re-interpret or redefine what the Lord has said about same-sex sexual activities. They are wrong in the eyes of God, always have been, and always will be so. Our friends who are now worshipping God and at the same time are indulging in the gay life are to be pitied, not envied.
Mt 15:7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 “ ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. 9 They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.’”
Pr 2:12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse, 13 who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways, 14 who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil, 15 whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.
Mt 13:15 For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.’ 16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
Prayer: You know how heavy is my heart when I think of those men who have allowed themselves to depart from Your truth. Lead them back onto Your pathway. Take the blinders away from their eyes. And Father, do not allow one more man or woman to fall prey to the lies of our enemy.
